Getting Unstuck

Eighth Annual Epiclesis Women's Retreat with Christy Fickenscher

Our women are gathering for another excellent summertime getaway June 21-23, at the beautiful Jesuit Retreat Center in Applegate, CA.

Our featured guest speaker, Christy Fickenscher (more on her below), will lead the weekend with a focus on getting unstuck. Christy writes this: “When confronted with a door, you can choose whether to open it. We have the option to leave the old behind and step into the new. But yet we can get stuck in our familiar yet comfortable ways of being. God is inviting us into a new place that means crossing that threshold, entering the unknown, and finding peace and freedom.”

The cost is $195 and includes lodging and meals. Checks should be payable to Epiclesis and marked “Women’s Retreat.” They may be turned in on Sunday mornings or mailed to our postal mailing address. For more information or to register, contact Marianne Sutter: info@epiclesis.org.

Getting to know Christy…

Introduced to  Jesus in grade school at a local Good News Bible Club, Christy began a life journey of loving and trusting Him.  Now in her mid 50’s, she is discovering that what she thought was her pursuit of God has always been His loving pursuit of her.

After several years teaching in public schools, Christy  attended Wheaton College and graduated with a MA in Clinical Psychology in 2000.  After working in the field of Marriage and Family Therapy for over 15 years, she retired her license and is now following her passion to accompany people in finding peace through  integrative healing prayer.  Christy is trained in prayer ministry through Imago Dei Ministries in Portland, Oregon, and currently practices prayer counseling through the ministry of Life and Wholeness, Soul Care Ministries.  Her faith in Jesus Christ grounds her in knowing a personal and  loving God who, through the Holy Spirit, desires to liberate us from debilitating shame into who we truly are as made in the image of God!

She is grateful for Pete, her husband of 24 years.  As mother of a precious college-aged daughter and a delightful teenage son, Christy is regularly in wonder at the gift of their lives and humbled at the opportunity to know and parent them.  Christy finds great joy spending time with her family whether at home, playing at the ocean,  or hiking the Sierra.  In her free time, she loves needle craft, watercolor, gardening, and reading.
