SUMMARY:Chapter House: Life & Wholeness Soul Care Ministries
DESCRIPTION:At the Epiclesis Chapter House by Appointment… \nA ministry of Christy Shirley Fickenscher\, MA\, Life & Wholeness Soul Care has a mission to promote\, encourage\, and facilitate mature relationships for the purpose of building up the Body of Christ. With a background in Marriage and Therapy Therapy\, she has a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and practiced professionally for many years. She is retired and is no longer practicing as an LMFT. \nHer ministry now centers on spiritual well-being as central to wholeness. She has been trained in the ministry of reconciliation (prayer ministry) through Imago Dei ministries out of Portland\, Oregon. Prayer ministry is led by a desire to see the light of Christ come into the dark places within hurting individuals. Prayer ministry is both an art and the application of various tools for the unlocking the God-given potential within each person. Soul care sees all of life connected with the desire to live an undivided life as David prayed\, “Lord\, give me an undivided life that I might praise your name” (Psalm 86:11). \nAbout Integrative Prayer Counseling: Our time together will center around what it is that you bring to the session and learning to listen to where the Lord is drawing you and speaking to you. Through the integrative prayer process\, we learn to hear God’s perspective on the areas of our lives in which we struggle. The approach is to also listen to you as a whole person and take into consideration mind\, soul\, spirit\, and body. \nAppointments: Counselling sessions on Mondays and Tuesdays at the Chapter House are by appointment only. Contact Christy.

SUMMARY:Movie Time at the Chapter House
DESCRIPTION:Hoping you’ll join us on Saturday\, May 17\, at 5:30 PM\, for Movie Time at the Chapter House. The feature? The multiple Academy Award-winning film “A Man for All Seasons” starring Paul Scofield\, Vanessa Redgrave\, Orson Welles\, and John Hurt (120 minutes\, rated G). \nThis sumptuous historical costume drama from 1966 focuses on the true story of Sir Thomas More who stood up to King Henry VIII when the monarch rejected the Roman Catholic Church in order to obtain a divorce and remarry. More’s clashes with the monarch increased in intensity. A devout Catholic and the King’s Lord Chancellor\, More stood by his religious principles and tooks measures to leave the royal court. Unfortunately\, the King and his loyalists weren’t appeased and pressed forward with charges of treason\, further testing More’s resolve and bringing about one of the greatest moral showdowns in history. \nIt’s an inspirational story of moral resolve\, family\, devotion to country\, and religious principle. \nWill you bring a snack? You’ll have to get really creative on this one. The English are not especially known for their tasty food.

DESCRIPTION:Hoping you’ll join us on Saturday\, April 26\, at 5:30 PM\, for Movie Time at the Chapter House. The film? Another terrific docu-drama titled “Skeletons on the Sahara.” \nIt’s a miraculous story. In 1815\, the Connecticut merchant ship “Commerce” ran aground off the West Coast of Africa. Captured by Arab nomads\, Captain James Riley and his crew were sold into brutal slavery and marched across the Sahara Desert\, where skin can boil\, lips blacken\, and men shrivel to walking skeletons. \nFeeling responsible for the fate of his men\, Riley staked his life on their well-being. His true story of miraculous survival takes documentary viewers inside the adventure with recreations that were shot on location and compelling interviews with descendants of Riley\, his crew\, and their captors. \nThe captain’s inspiring memoir\, originally titled and published as An Authentic Narrative of the Loss of the American Brig Commerce (1817)\, was influential on a young Abraham Lincoln in his views on slavery. \nIncludes commentary from Dean King\, author of the bestselling book of the same name. This History Channel production (1:40) is safe for all audiences (though there are some difficult scenes reenacting near-starvation). \nWill you bring a snack? Something desert-y? Could be North African\, Moroccan\, or maybe something Arab. Get creative!
