Mark your calendars for October 29-30, 2021; Christ the King Retreat Center. (Not an overnight retreat).
Save the date, friends: Epiclesis is proud to announce a fall retreat with Rod Dreher. And help us spread the word: This remarkable retreat is open to the entire Sacramento-area Christian community.
Best-selling author of The Benedict Option: A Strategy for Christians in a Post-Christian Nation, and Live Not by Lies: A Manual for Christian Dissidents, Rod Dreher will be on hand for a special, and ultimately hopeful and encouraging, two-day mini retreat to give insights on how Christians should live in a post-Christian nation. (This is not an overnight retreat).
Pastor Chris writes, “We’re so very pleased to share the terrific news of this retreat with you. Dreher’s books, The Benedict Option and Live Not By Lies, surely had a big impact on our ministry in the last year. And, speaking of 2020, I am ever more convinced that Rod’s prophetic works are important, if not essential, guides for how Christians can move forward in odd times like these. In my view, the books are some of the most helpful Christian resources of our day.”
The Benedict Option, from 2017, is the New York Times bestseller that sparked an international debate about the future of Christianity. Live Not by Lies, his work from last year, shot to number 1 on the Amazon list shortly after its release.
Dreher closely examined the life and work of St. Benedict– worthy of a retreat all by itself– and followed it up with a deeply personal work where he interviewed European former Christian dissidents. His unique expertise and scholarship in this area make Dreher’s visit to Sacramento a unique opportunity that you should not miss.
What are Christians to do in a post-Christian culture? How do Christians stand up to soft totalitarianism? Our Christian past, and our brothers and sisters who have been through much worse, hold the key. Join us!
