Finding Jesus in the Feasts… Oct. 21-22!

January 31, 2019

You simply cannot miss this opportunity!

Mark your calendars for October 21-22 and plan on coming with us on a life-changing pilgrimage to the three major Jewish Feasts.

Get the details just below:

Our Tabernacle Retreat in the fall of 2019 was so successful, we wanted to follow up with a look at the Jewish Feasts. And this time we’ll be returning to our regular retreat location, the beautiful Christ the King Retreat Center in Citrus Heights.

Over the course of three main sessions, we’ll learn about and uniquely experience the three main Jewish Feasts– Passover, Pentecost, and Tabernacles– with the special purpose of seeing how they point to the person and work of Jesus. Participants in our 2019 fall retreat about the Old Testament Tabernacle will remember some of the miraculous ways that we saw Jesus there. Just wait until you find Jesus in the Feasts!

And here’s some great news: The retreat will feature Dr. Teresa Gardner (you may remember that she participated with us a bit in our Tabernacle fall retreat) AND she’ll be bringing a small troupe of dancers from the Zion Center for Worship and the Arts (ZCWA) in Charlotte, N.C.! The Zion Center serves as a resource and training center for the larger Body of Christ in the areas of biblical worship, teaching, and the technical training of worship artists, particularly those involved in dance ministry. ZCWA serves through national conferences, local classes, workshops, community outreach, a free inner-city multi-cultural dance program for the underserved, and short-term missions trips. Teresa Gardner is the founder and director.

Quick Details For You:

The retreat location will be the Christ the King Retreat Center in Citrus Heights. We’ll be assembling in the large, open, and airy “Quinn” room, which will be perfect for our visiting performers.

The cost is $55, which helps us cover the use of the facilities and lunch and coffee service. Space is limited and you must secure your spot with a paid reservation. You may pay in one of three ways:

  1. Use Our Secure, Online Portal by Clicking This Link: Two Very Important Notes: Please add $3 to your total to offset the costs of the online transaction. Please also mark what the fee is for AND for whom the reservations are being made.
  2. Mail a Check to our P.O. Box: Please mark the check “Fall Retreat:” 11230 Gold Express Drive, #310-214; Gold River, CA 95670-4484. Please let us know for whom the reservation(s) is being made and include an email address.
  3. Bring a Check on Sunday Mornings to Epiclesis: Make sure to mark the check (a separate one from regular tithes and offerings) “Fall Retreat.” Please let us know for whom the reservation(s) is being made and include an email address.

Mini-retreat schedule/overview:

Friday night, 6:30-9 PM; Saturday, 9-5. (Note: This is not an overnight retreat). Teresa will also teach in the Sunday morning service at Epiclesis (10:30 AM). For Friday night, consider making separate arrangements to stay at the retreat center to make the morning commute easier and to extend your prayer and reflection. Pastor Chris can help you with those details/contact information. Please note: Accommodations are on a first-come, first-served basis (there are other retreats going on at the same time which will affect availability) and are not included in our retreat price.

About our retreat leader…

Teresa Gardner (right) has long held a vision for seeing the arts restored for the glory of God and is the Director of Zion Center for Worship and the Arts (ZCWA), a citywide and internationally-connected center for worship training through biblical study and technical artistic development. The realization of this vision has taken many local, national, and international venues over the years and currently includes weekly classes, online studies, conferences, and international missions trips.

Teresa has also directed the Resurrection Dance Ministry in Charlotte for 40 years where she still oversees and teaches Worship Dance Classes to all ages. In addition, she oversees a community outreach dance program for underserved inner-city children and youth (Dancing Together: A Multicultural Youth Dance Program), assists churches in beginning and establishing their own dance ministries, and serves in an advisory role to developing arts ministries.

Extending beyond local and regional ministry, Teresa and the Resurrection Dance Ministry have served through many international missions’ trips where they have taught in worship conferences on biblical worship and the use of dance in worship expression. One of ZCWA’s newest venues of biblical worship arts education and training is through online courses.

Teresa danced with the International Christian Embassy’s “Tabernacle Dance Company” for the Feast of Tabernacles in Jerusalem for many years and served as its manager from 1999-2010. As part of her ongoing ministry in Israel, ZCWA continues to lead worship/discipleship/ministry trips to Israel, the Land of the Bible.

Teresa’s desire is to help the individual come into a deeper relationship with God through his or her own expressions of praise and worship to the Lord, to use the visual to enhance the corporate expression and experience of God in worship, to make God known evangelistically through as many art forms as possible, and ultimately to make His praises known around the world– covering the earth with His glory!

Teaching on Biblical Worship is a passion of Teresa’s. She received both her Masters and Doctorate of Worship Studies from The Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies and currently serves as a Board Member for the Ancient-Future Faith Network. Previous ministry experience also includes Christian Radio and Christian Television.

Teresa resides in Charlotte, North Carolina, where for 40 years she has been surrounded and supported by wonderful communities of faith. In her “spare time,” she is working on writing several books.
