Our retreat leader: Kim Akes
Kim Akes was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana. She encountered Jesus at a very young age, and she was brought up in a church that taught and believed in The Great Commission. Kim has always had a heart for missions and has found great joy, whether by herself or with her husband Jeff, to serve and be used by Jesus in the U.S. and abroad. Since 2012, Kim and Jeff have been part of a team that goes to Burning Man in the desert of Nevada. There they help others who are seeking spiritual experiences encounter the truth and love of Jesus. This has led to ministering at other festivals and events where dream interpretation, praying for the sick, an encouraging word from the Lord, or just a smile and a hug are needed. She loves to help others interpret the dreams God has given them.
Kim attends Christian Center Shreveport where she serves on the intercession and worship teams. Together, she and her husband have led a prophetic evangelism class where they take students to the streets to practice what they’ve learned.
Kim has been married to Jeff for over 30 years, and they have three grown children along with their newest addition, a beautiful granddaughter. They are loving their new roles as grandparents. Just ask her. After being a stay-at-home mom, she now has the privilege of being a stay-at-home grandmother.
The Kingdom of God is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. Her hope and desire for this retreat is to see others recognize that they are deposits of joy in this earth. Unbound.
